Description
Morley Addressable Isolator Module (MI-DISO)
Overview
The Morley Addressable Isolator Module (MI-DISO) is a loop-powered, intelligent short circuit isolation device engineered to protect Morley-IAS analogue addressable fire alarm systems against wire-to-wire short circuits on the analogue addressable loop wiring. Manufactured by Morley-IAS — a trusted brand under Honeywell with decades of fire safety expertise — this module ensures that a single cable fault does not disable the entire detection loop, maintaining system integrity and life safety when it matters most.
Designed to be strategically placed between groups of sensors on the loop wiring, the MI-DISO automatically isolates faulty sections of the loop, allowing the remainder of the system to continue functioning uninterrupted. When a short circuit fault occurs, the two isolators located on either side of the fault automatically sense the voltage drop, open their switches, and remove the affected devices from the rest of the loop. Once the fault is cleared and line voltage rises above a fixed threshold, the isolator module automatically restores power to the isolated group of devices.
Whether you’re equipping a commercial building, an industrial facility, a hospital, or a residential complex, the Morley Addressable Isolator Module delivers the intelligence, reliability, and performance you need for robust fire protection with enhanced system resilience.
Key Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Automatic Short Circuit Isolation | Automatically detects and isolates wire-to-wire short circuits on the analogue addressable loop, preventing total loop failure |
| Intelligent Fault Restoration | Automatically restores power to isolated devices once the short circuit fault is cleared |
| Supports Up to 25 Devices | Each isolator module can support up to 25 items maximum, providing flexible system design |
| Unique Mechanical Design | Allows each module to be mounted either in a standard wall box or on a 35mm DIN rail |
| Visible & Accessible Address Switches | Address switches are visible and accessible in two planes without removing the mounting box cover, simplifying maintenance and fault finding |
| Tri-Colour LED Status Indication | Multi-colour LEDs provide clear diagnostic information regarding the status of the isolator — blinking in normal conditions and switching on/off in the presence of a short circuit |
| Plug-in Connectors | Field wiring terminals of plug-in design for ease of installation, testing, and maintenance |
| Low Standby Current | Energy-efficient design with quiescent current of just 200 microA |
| Loop Powered | Powered directly from the analogue addressable loop (15-30V DC), eliminating the need for separate power supplies |
| Wide Operating Temperature Range | Operates reliably from -20°C to +60°C |
